Taylor privacy notice

What happens to the questions, documents and details you share with Taylor, in plain English.

1.About this notice

How Sprintlaw UK handles information you give Taylor.

This notice explains how Sprintlaw (UK) Ltd (company number 12872061), trading as Sprintlaw UK, handles personal information collected through Taylor at asktaylor.co.uk. Sprintlaw UK is the controller of that information, and you can reach us at 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA or team@sprintlaw.co.uk.

It adds to Sprintlaw UK's privacy policy, which covers our wider handling of personal information. We handle personal information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2.What we collect

Your chats and documents, contact details if you ask for a quote, and basic usage data.

  • Your chats: the questions you ask, Taylor's answers and the conversation title.
  • Documents you upload: contracts, letters, images and other files, and anything in them.
  • Contact details: your name, email and mobile number when you ask for a quote or send an enquiry.
  • Technical information: your IP address, browser and device details, the page you came from and how you use Taylor, including through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Your browser's storage: a token that lets you pick up your last chat on the same device.

You don't have to give us your contact details to use Taylor, but we need them to send you a quote. Documents and chats can contain personal information about other people. Only share it if you're allowed to, and avoid sharing sensitive information, such as health details, unless your question needs it.

3.How we use it, and our lawful bases

To answer you, prepare quotes, keep Taylor safe and make it better.

We use this information to:

  • generate Taylor's answers and document reviews
  • prepare your brief and quote, and contact you about your request
  • keep Taylor secure, prevent misuse and enforce usage limits
  • monitor and improve the quality and safety of Taylor and Sprintlaw UK's services
  • measure how people find and use Taylor, including for advertising
  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations

Under the UK GDPR, we rely on:

  • legitimate interests: to run, secure and improve Taylor, respond to you, and understand how people use it, where those interests aren't overridden by your rights
  • steps before a contract: when you ask for a quote, to prepare it at your request
  • legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information
  • consent: where the law requires it, such as for non-essential cookies and marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Taylor's answers are generated automatically, but we don't make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. We won't sell your personal information.

4.AI providers and international transfers

AI and cloud providers process your chats, including outside the UK.

Taylor uses third-party AI model providers and cloud services to process chats and documents and generate answers. Sprintlaw UK also works with Sprintlaw's team and platform in Australia. This means your information may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States and Australia.

When we transfer personal information outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as:

  • UK adequacy regulations, including the UK-US data bridge for US organisations certified under it, where applicable
  • the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses

You can contact us for more information about these safeguards.

If you use dictation, your browser or device's speech service (such as Google or Apple) converts your speech to text under its own privacy terms. Taylor doesn't receive your audio.

5.Who sees it

Sprintlaw's team and the service providers we use to run Taylor.

Sprintlaw UK's team, including team members in Australia, may review chats to answer quote requests, provide support, check quality and safety, and investigate misuse. When you ask for a quote, your brief, contact details and any documents you shared go to our legal team and our customer systems.

We also share information with service providers who help us run Taylor (such as hosting, security, AI, email, analytics and customer management providers), and where the law requires it.

6.How long we keep it

Guest chats for about 30 days, longer only when needed.

We keep guest chats for about 30 days, longer only if you request a quote or we need them to resolve an issue. The link that lets you pick up a chat on the same device lasts 7 days.

When you request a quote or send an enquiry, we keep that information for as long as we need it for your request and our legal obligations, and then delete or anonymise it. If you become a client, information connected with your matter is kept in line with our record-keeping obligations.

7.Your rights and complaints

You can access, correct or delete your information, and complain to the ICO.

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access your personal information
  • have inaccurate information corrected
  • have your information erased
  • restrict how we use it
  • object to how we use it, including to direct marketing at any time
  • receive it in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent, where we rely on it

Some of these rights only apply in certain circumstances. To use them, email team@sprintlaw.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity first. You can clear your browser's storage to remove the saved chat link from your device, and use your browser settings to manage cookies.

If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
